The dictionary definition for the word house is “a building for human habitation.” A dwelling, a place you eat, sleep, recharge, exist. There are no words in the English language (nor any other for that matter) to define ‘Serenity’ in Cascada de Camojan, a stone’s throw from the centre of Marbella. From the moment you arrive at the gate it’s clear that this property is in a league of its own.

The imposing entrance hall can be seen from outside through slats of perfectly aligned wood through which cascading glass ball pendants dangle like stars, emitting soft ambient light. Passing through the large front door you are met with clean lines, open spaces and a millimeter perfect finish everywhere you look. Stairs to the left seem to rise up forever and gravity defying glass balustrades appear to hang effortlessly alongside them, allowing a feeling of light and space to continue throughout. Crystal chandeliers adorn the walls above custom made consoles finished in a delicate metallic paint.

The ground floor offers a beautiful open plan lounge/dining suite. The lounge is decadent and designed for complete relaxation, with comfy sofas covered in soft textured scatter cushions and complimented by two stunning thrown style armchairs by esteemed brand Munna, plus a TV wall with a remote controlled biofuel fire that ensures residents are cosy all year round.

Separated by a wall of beautifully framed limited edition artwork, the kitchen is everything is should be in a house of this stature. Modern units constitute two sides, floor to ceiling windows occupy the other two and, in the middle, an island of solid oak matched with Krion. A large seating area in the middle and plenty of space to cook, eat and entertain makes this kitchen fit for royalty. The room is finished off with an eye-catching glass droplet chandelier by the famous London based lighting company Ochre, creating the perfect balance between a top of the range modern kitchen and a glamorous hub of the home. Leading out on to a wide terrace overlooking the garden and swimming pool there is more eating/entertaining space as well as access to the garden. This floor is host to a large en-suite bedroom, a luxury home office and a large picture window looking out onto the sizeable driveway, gardens and front gate.

The first floor offers the most stunning master suite, even before crossing the threshold. The double width sliding doors are dressed with huge hammered metal handles by UK designer Philip Watts which, when opened, disappear into the walls leaving a grand opening into a very opulent space. The oversized velvet headboard sets the scene with elegant glass pendants by Penta hanging either side, opposite which is a custom made walk-in wardrobe with space for both ‘him’ and ‘her’ to fill. Sensor operated LED lights illuminate the space as you enter and at the end is a full height mirror, making the already large area seem as if it goes on forever.

Around the corner is a bright and welcoming open plan bathroom with Calacatta walls, glass framed walk-in shower, large beautifully lit ‘his and hers’ vanity unit and a stand alone bath with views across the garden.

This floor contains two more large en-suite bedrooms which both boast luxury exterior showers surrounded by lush exotic plants creating a feeling of a five-star resort. The generous size of all the bedrooms in this property adds to the overall feeling of luxuriousness.

Underneath the entry level is a large basement area compete with home cinema, bar, gym, spa and another en-suite bedroom. The cinema and bar area come to life with the various lighting options that have been installed, including a backlit bar as well as hanging iridescent hand blown glass pendants. The cinema has a huge corner sofa providing ample seating and another biofuel fire.

The entrance into the spa is across a modern bridge with a wall of stone to the right, over which water cascades down into the lap pool below. Beyond the pool the vast spa area stretched the entire width of the house and includes a sauna and a steam room, large round daybeds dressed with cushions and views across the garden.

One of the best features of this house (and worth saving until last) is the incredible secret roof terrace. A lift which begins in the basement bar/ cinema area, ascends to take you up to this rooftop heaven. Boasting two comfortable built-in seating areas, a mahjong style, low-to-the-floor lounge with glass balustrades, a large mosaic hot-tub, dining/cooking area, bar and cinema, this is one house very much geared to entertain. Most of the décor is elegantly white with hints of sky blue in the soft furnishings and there are views all the way to the sea from the elevated hot-tub. At night this area transforms into another space entirely as the well planned lighting takes on a personality of its own. The mahjong lounge area has also been finished with two custom made Krion coffee tables which turn into works of art as lights shine through the semi-opaque surface revealing ornate and dramatic mandalas. The Jacuzzi and LED lighting around the banquette seating can change colour to suit your mood and there is absolutely no reason to leave this solarium fit for celebrities; with its outdoor bathroom, barbeque, bar and integrated fireplace, we think it might be difficult to get rid of your guests at the end of the evening!

It’s fair to say that this ‘house’ is a stunning space that has been meticulously planned and well thought out in every area possible – and with luxury firmly in mind. There is a new spectacle in every direction you care to turn and it’s every bit as dreamlike as it sounds. This is one place of which it can certainly be said that you really have to see it to believe it.
